Rita Gangwani, ex lieutenant army and presently a consultant and personality trainer, she's done it all. Her various interests extend from imparting skills, tea cup and tarot reading, candle magic, colour healing and many more techniques which she uses to transform the lives of others. Let us take a peek into the beautiful living of this multitalented lady

She started off with a tough life in the Indian Army in 1978 and was trained at the CH Air Force, Bangalore. A winner all the way, Rita stood first in the All India Merit list and was awarded President's Medal for Academics. She went on to become one of the first women army officers from Himachal Pradesh in the MNS core.

Rita’s passions, however, extended beyond the army, as she imagined for herself a life spent in the service of not only the nation as a whole, but in enabling individuals to be and feel beautiful. “During my training in the Indian army, I underwent lessons in OIQ that is, Officer like quality. We were taught basic manners including little things like how to shake hands confidently and how to move around with grace. While I was being trained in these aspects, I knew I wanted to pursue it further. After my marriage, it became difficult to remain in the Army. It was then that I opted for voluntary retirement and decided to pursue personality development fulltime. I have been in this domain for the last twenty-four years!”

Rita’s first step towards becoming a personality guru was when she joined an indo-Swiss finishing school and went through their tough curriculum of getting trained and groomed in various aspects of human personality. She mastered the art of body language and interpersonal skills. “After I came back from the finishing school, I joined Aptech as a student because I wanted to learn computing skills at a time when computers were relatively new and alien. Soon, they offered me a position as the Placement head. At Aptech, I had my first hands on experience in grooming,” reminisces Rita.

Bumpy roads

Rita left Aptech in May 2001 and started working as a freelance trainer in the field of personality development. Pursuing one’s passions independently is never easy. Rita has had her share of challenges, “Initially people were not interested in personality development. They felt the need for only technical knowledge. Slowly, this thinking has changed. Some of the toughest challenges I have faced in my career have been while grooming the students of schools in the villages or beauty pageant contestants who come from small towns. However, in the end it really pays off when your students come back and thank you.”

Typical day

Rita’s days are all about making people feel good. She adds, “In the morning, I take some time to dress up so as to maintain the right image throughout the day. Usually, I visit colleges and meet students between 1 to 3 pm. I am also a motivational speaker and like to interact with youngsters, sharing their thoughts and feelings. Between, 4 to 7:30 in the evening, I take classes and train students. In fact, I am now also a print model. I was also fascinated by the beauty industry and when I saw demand for people of my age, I decided to go for it.”

Inspired and inspiring

Inspired by the Laws of the Spirit World written by Khorshed Bhavnagri, this dynamic entrepreneur teaches people how to lead extraordinary lives through the power of living in the moment. Breaking traditional molds, Rita has a multifaceted career as a Reiki and Chios energy healer, Tea Cup Reader, Tarot Reader as well as an author, lifestyle coach and stylist.

Rita truly knows how to take what life throws at her as a lemon and turn it into lemonade. She is brimmed with emotion as she describes her turning point in life, “A couple of years ago, I had an open heart bypass surgery. I feel that these are now bonus years for me and so, I want to use them to motivate others.” More than just a personality trainer, Rita is inspiration personified. Cheers to such a compassionate heart and an undying spirit!
