As a part of the Environment Day celebrations, 3DPLM Software Solutions Ltd. (a Joint Venture company of Geometric Limited and Dassault Systèmes) organised a cycle rally and plantation drive at its premises. The cycle rally was a grand success, with overwhelming response from employees. The final head count for the rally was 167! People rode bicycles from places as far as Katraj to the company office at Hinjewadi, Pune. The uniqueness of this rally, as compared to many others, was that herein employees actually pedaled to office, thus ensuring that there were 167 cars less on the road to Hinjewadi! The cycle rally was coordinated by the 3D Cycle Club - an in-house group of cycling enthusiasts. The idea behind forming such a group was to popularise cycling as a green option, along with promoting healthy lifestyle among the IT fraternity. Members of this group ride once or twice a week to office together. The group also organises rides to nearby outing places on weekends. The club was a brainchild of Sameer Atre, (senior director), a passionate cycling enthusiast and is supported by various other cycling enthusiasts. The club arranged more than 120 bicycles for the rally through various sponsors for the people, who were willing to join the rally but did not have any cycles. Through this rally, the 3D Cycle Club and each participant contributed to the cause of green and clean environment and will continue to do their smaller bit by hitting the pedal every week, thus reducing their carbon footprint.
